Apparel Design through Draping.
The Dutchess.
This project translates foundational dress draping techniques into high-performance outerwear. Using scaled-up panels from earlier coursework, the coat features contoured princess seams, a structured hood, and a center front waterproof zipper for weather protection. Constructed from a Gore-Tex alternative 3-layer waterproof-breathable fabric, the design balances technical precision with form-conscious tailoring. Over 70 hours of detailed construction resulted in a fully functional outer shell suitable for wet weather conditions.
