Draping

The Dutchess

About the Project

The Dutchess was a concept that was born from a series of draping practices leading up to the final project. We were instructed to make a skirt or dress, so I blended my focus on outerwear to make a dress-like jacket that was both functional and stylish, suitable for urban commuting. Using the patterns designed in class, I expanded and reshaped them in order to achieve a perfect tailored fit, and incorporated new pieces like sleeves and a hood.

The Dutchess features a YKK laminated waterproof zipper, waterproof seam sealing on the entire interior, 3 layer waterproof breathable fabric, and a stormproof hood.
